The "Case in Kenya" Project

Welcome!

The purpose of this site is to provide updated information on the activities surrounding the development and eventual implementation of a VCT center in Bungoma, Kenya. This project will be carried out with the help of the non-profit organization Volunteer Kenya and an Experiential Learning Grant through Case Western Reserve University.

The actions of the United States in Kenya related to HIV and AIDS are profiled in the Global HIV/AIDS section of the CDC webpage.

A stand-alone or integrated VCT center (Voluntary Counseling and Testing) is an integral part of the mission for educating people about, and preventing the spread of, HIV. The annual recurring cost is approximated to be US$6,600 (2000),so we are currently involved in fundraising. If you are part of a group that would like to help, please e-mail us at HIVBungoma@gmail.com.

Please see the links on the right-hand column as we add HIV/AIDS information and resources.

If you would like to help financially, please go to the Volunteer Kenya donation webpage. To donate to our project through Volunteer Kenya, please include a note that the funds should be flagged for the Case group/VCT project. Volunteer Kenya is engaged in many projects in the Bungoma region.

The four students involved are Krishna, Josh, Phil, and Jeff--
Individual blogs will be linked to this site as they become active. Krishna and Josh will leave for Kenya in August 2007 and return to the US in December 2007. Krishna and Phil will leave for Kenya in January 2008 and return to the US in May 2008. Jeff will leave for Kenya in May 2008 and return in August 2008. Some funding is provided through the Experiential Learning Fellowship granted through Case Western Reserve University.
